The UTK VolsTeach Program seeks to identify outstanding future teachers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines that are participating in the VolsTeach Program for receipt of Noyce Scholarships.
Juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for a Noyce Scholarship. Scholarship recipients will receive $12,000/year for their junior and/or senior year as long as the student remains in good academic & professional standing. Recipients will also receive an additional $10,000 of professional development monies during their first year of teaching when they accept a position in a high need (Title 1) school district. (The school district must be high need, not necessarily that school.) Thus, the possible award could be a maximum of $34,000 over 3 years. This award requires two years of full-time teaching be completed in a school system designated as high need. Application due date for Scholarship requests: Friday, February 14, 2014
